Car restoration for Wellington
We're about an hour and a quarter north of Wellington on State Highway 1 — far enough out that we've got the room to keep long builds on the floor, close enough that you can come and see yours.
Space is the thing you can't buy in Wellington
A frame-up restoration needs somewhere for a car to sit, in pieces, for a long time. City floor space is expensive, which is why serious restoration work tends to happen out of town, and why plenty of Wellington cars end up somewhere like here.
Wellington also does a specific number on old cars. Damp, salt off the harbour and steep wet streets that get gritted are hard on floors, sills and brake and fuel lines. We cut rust out and replace it in steel rather than filling it, and we'll give you a straight assessment of what a shell actually needs before you commit money to paint.
Getting the car to us from Wellington
A little over an hour if the car drives. If it doesn't, transport up SH1 is routine and we'll help you organise it both ways — a lot of the cars on our floor arrived on a truck rather than under their own power.
We're not a mobile operation — the spray booth, the fabrication gear and the trim shop are all at Kuku, and that's where the work happens. What we will do is help you sort transport in both directions if the car isn't going to drive itself here.
